In 1H2026, the figure had fallen by 0.7% y/y

Global steel production in June 2026 rose by 1.7% year-on-year – to 155.7 million tonnes. This is according to the World Steel Association’s global ranking of steel-producing countries.

Compared with the previous month, the figure fell by 1.4%.

According to World Steel, the top ten steel-producing countries in June were:

• China — 83.7 million tonnes (+0.4% year-on-year);

• India — 14.1 million tonnes (+4.5%);

• the USA — 7.2 million tonnes (+3.5%);

• Japan — 6.8 million tonnes (+1.3%);

• Russia — 5.6 million tonnes (-3.4%);

• South Korea — 5.3 million tonnes (-0.9%);

• Turkey — 3.3 million tonnes (+14.7%);

• Germany — 2.9 million tonnes (+9.5%);

• Brazil — 2.8 million tonnes (+0.1%);

• Vietnam — 2.6 million tonnes (+27.5%).

In the first half of 2026, global steel output reached 931.5 million tonnes, 0.7% than in the same period of 2025.
